It started in 2011, with a few scribbled notes …
After six months of hard work and skipped lunches and very early mornings, it looked like this …
In March 2012, a year after those first ideas were scribbled down, THE GIRL WHO CAME HOME was self published on Kindle and this happened …
A couple of months later, THIS happened …
Another year later, in March 2013, I self published the book as a Createspace paperback …
Shortly after that, an agent in New York read the Kindle version, contacted me, signed me up and then in June 2013, THIS happened … https://hazelgaynor.com/blog/its-a-book-announcing-my-exciting-news/ and I drank lots of this …
A beautiful new cover was designed …
the line edits and copy edits came through …
and the final proof pages arrived in November 2013 …
The Advance Readers Copy arrived in Jan 2014 ….
the audio book was recorded in LA …
and finally, today, April 1st, 2014, THE GIRL WHO CAME HOME, published by William Morrow, is released across America …
… and this little lady couldn’t be happier!

Love the look of the book – and love this tale! Great to hear about your similar adventure to mine and I wish you all the best! (NB I think that you were laughing in sheer DISBELIEF at the dreadful smock, some cruel grown-up had draped about your wee person!)
I know! How cruel!! A child of the ’70s will always be a child of the ’70’s!
A brilliant story – congrats!!
You almost make it look easy, my dear! So very proud of you!!
